My name is Cassidy Hardesty and I am an NCIDQ certified Interior Designer located just outside of Indianapolis, IN, where I reside with my husband David and 3 kids. I am the owner of CDHardesty Designs, where I specialize in the technical side of Interior Design by providing exceptional visual tools to Interior Designers, Home Builders and Remodelers, all across the country. By utilizing virtual design and a wide variety of software I can assist you with floor plans, elevations, lighting plans, custom 3D models and 3D renderings to put your thoughts on paper so you can focus on the parts of the design process you enjoy most!
The majority of my background is in Retail Store Design with an emphasis in space planning, which means I spend most of my days utilizing software to design a space to be the the best it could be. In 2017 I decided it was time to start adding residential design to my project load and thus was born CDHardesty Designs.
What started off as a full service local residential design business quickly turned into a 95% virtual to the trade only design business that specializes in the technical side of design.
Why Just the Tech Side of Design?
I discovered that in my 18 years of interior design experience understanding how a space will work and the construction details are the parts I most enjoy. By honing in on this specialty, the technical side of Interior Design, it has allowed me to further recognize the importance of a good project base with thorough planning and that the drawings a designer can provide will make a project run smoother, while a great rendering will confirm the design will be spectacular before demo has even begun!
I had been a work from home commercial interior designer for 13 years when I started my own residential business. The goal was to offer full service in person residential design services but I quickly realized that was not where my passion was. I started to notice there was a need from other designers looking for floor plans and elevations because they either didn’t have the time or just didn’t want to deal with creating them. With my space planning and AutoCad background, I could produce them quickly, while also offering design collaboration if needed. After a few successful projects I had found that working directly with other designers and builders on their technical design needs was the niche offering I wanted to focus on.
1. Precision and attention to detail – Its important to trust that construction drawings are accurate, I rely on industry standards and a keen eye to ensure that 2D drawings are easy to read and match the information provided to me.
2. I offer design collaboration in addition to drawing a designers own design, I can provide furniture space planning options, size suggestions and even full kitchen layout designs.
3. I really enjoy creating new 3D sketchup models, so most of my renderings feature customized pieces to match the designers specs as opposed to look a likes.
CDHardesty designs is a one stop shop for remodel projects! A designer could give me a box with dimensions, inspiration images, and a list of goals and I can create an entire technical layout, elevations, lighting plan, while they work on the material selections, and then turn it all into a 3D rendering.
I love being a VA because it allows me to be a part of a variety of styles, but when it comes to personal style I tend to gravitate towards classic lines with coastal textures and tones.
I have been a remote designer for 16 years, so I have a considerable amount of experience in how to communicate with clients virtually, portray what I need from them to finalize a project and processes in place to ensure projects get completed as quickly as possible.
I accept projects on a first come first serve basis, but I always appreciate a good heads up and will happily “pencil you in” if a designer knows their future project timeline. Once the information is received I will work through everything I can and send screenshot of the progress, along with any markups with items that I may have questions on or if information is missing. Once everything is complete on my end I will send it back to the designer for review. If everything looks good then the project is invoiced and the finalized visuals are sent to the designer.
I married my high school sweetheart and together we I have lived in 4 different states and moved 13 different times for his job. While challenging, the great part about that was I was able to reinvent my surroundings with each move and also how i started working remotely.
I love travel planning and searching for the perfect accommodations for large and small groups. The designer in me is searching for a beautifully decorated space while the space planner in me can envision how the users will interact and utilize the layout.
When I was in the 3rd grade I decided that Cassity, my given name, was all wrong for me, so i changed it to Cassidy on all my school papers. It really confused my teachers but I was persistent and by high school my parents helped me through an official legal name change process. “
