“With a Bachelor of Science in Interior Design and a lighting design minor in 2001, Charlene Nicol works as the creative director and CEO of her team, bringing you her experience in 21 years of custom design and industry know how. She has a standard poodle service dog named, Rae of Sunshine, that you may see with her with at industry events and on vendors Instagram pages. As Rae helps make her more productive and is support system, so she hopes to assist you in the IDVA.

I stumbled into it when I joined Michelle Lynn’s Bakery. During the year long program, I eventually started teaching a class or two. After beginning my interior design business, I realized I was getting stuck in the “weeds” of back-end operations and had spent so much time the first year in marketing, process development, and tried out so many of the programs. I wasted so much money! In my head, I kept on thinking back to how I could use all that expensive time and knowledge to help other design companies get off the ground faster. When I found Mydoma I used it for a couple of years in my business and really enjoyed the backend work I turned my side gig into a full-time business.

I have 3 dealerships, Kraftmaid, Norman Shutters, and Norwalk and can give them custom quotes and send samples and save them money. I also sell templates that I can customize to their business.

Experience
After the initial consultation to get to know their processes and needs, I block time off and let them know when I will be working on it. Any questions or tasks for needed information are created in Mydoma to the designer. If any more time is needed, I will text the designer and request they purchase more time. The designer is given weekly updates on time usage.
