My name is Krystal Ryan, and I am the founder and principal designer at The Ryan Suite. My journey into the world of interior design is a unique one, shaped by a deep-rooted passion for transformation and a commitment to helping others.
After a lengthy career in front-line healthcare, I felt a strong desire to make a change and explore my creative side. My husband and I had spent years renovating our homes, and this sparked a love for design. I decided to take the leap and educate myself in the field of interior design. As a graduate of the Interior Design Institute, I gained the knowledge and skills necessary to jump-start my career in design and embark on the exciting journey of entrepreneurship.
At The Ryan Suite, I’m committed to making the design process as smooth and efficient as possible, offering my expertise to enhance your projects. Whether you’re a seasoned designer looking for assistance or someone embarking on a new design journey, I am here to help you achieve your goals and create beautiful spaces that leave a lasting impression.
After completing my education, I knew I wanted to start off by helping other designers reduce their overwhelm, and learn more about the business side of things. I have a couple of close friends who are Interior Designers and I was constantly seeing the overwhelm and pressure they were under. I began to wonder how I could help them. I learned a bit about Virtual Assistants and the roles they play and after digging deep, I kept hearing how important it was to niche down to one industry. That’s when The Ryan Suite was born!
1) Empathetic, 2) Great communicator/collaborator, and 3) My attention to detail
My unique background and experience as a Paramedic has honed my abilities in problem-solving, attention to detail, and empathy. In addition to this, I was constantly exposed to different homes and always recognized how the needs of one’s environment shifts as they age. I have become an expert in spacial planning and how best to set up an interior for aging-in-place.
I really love a transitional style, mixing old with new. I like soothing tones, with subtle pops of colour and traditional patterns. I LOVE wallpaper 😉
I thoroughly enjoy creating renders using the Mydoma Visualizer. It’s amazing what a life-like visualization can do for a client who is having a hard time putting all of the pieces together. I also really love product sourcing in conjunction to creating client presentations. Packaging everything up and sealing it with a bow is the ultimate client experience.
I always start with a complimentary discovery call and questionnaire with my designers. I like to dig deep and not only learn about their specific project, but I love hearing about their business and their journey to get there. I ask about their future goals and what they are looking for in an assistant. If we are a good match, I get right to work collecting all pertinent information and documents needed to fulfill their service. Whether it’s collecting a vendor list to assist them with product sourcing, or collecting photos and floor plan sketches to get started on a render, I ensure the designer has a clear outline on what is expected from both of us.
